Which is better… traveling on land or cruising? Well, having done both I would have to say that cruising is better. With land travel you have to pay separately for your lodging, transportation and food. Of these expenses food can add up, especially if you like eating at fancy restaurants. For this reason during our land trips we decided to eat very light for breakfast and lunch, while eating more lavishly at dinner.
With cruising, you get unlimited access to gourmet food. During specific times you can eat in a restaurant. At other times you can eat buffet food and pizza. This doesn’t include room service, which is often provided free of charge on cruises. Indeed, when you go on a cruise, you’ll never have to worry about your food budget.
Additionally, live entertainment is provided for free. In fact, during a cruise there is so much to do, you don’t even need to go on land to truly enjoy yourself. But when you travel by land, you have to pay separately for entertainment. If you don’t feel like doing that, you’ll have to just hang out at your hotel. Sure, there might be a pool or a spa, but that gets boring after awhile. With a cruise, one can never be bored because there are so many activities to choose from.

I used to swear by land vacations until a couple of years ago when I took my first cruise. Now I am hooked forever.
