Cruise ship staterooms are where you stay during the time you are on a cruise. They come in several different categories. The cheapest and most basic cruise ship stateroom is known as an inside cabin. They are small, have no windows but can be quieter than other staterooms, since they are located in the interior of the ship. If you are low on money and plan on not spending much time in your stateroom, inside cabins are the way to go.
The next type of affordable cruise ship staterooms are known as outside cabins. They usually include a window or a porthole to allow a person to view the sea from their rooms. The only downside is that these windows cannot open up, at least for most cruise ships. There are some older ones that will allow the window to open up slightly to allow fresh air to come into the room.
Finally, there are cruise ship staterooms that are classified as suites. The most basic suite will look like an inside or outside cabin but have a balcony. More expensive penthouse or presidential suites will be much more elaborate. In fact, many high-class cruise ship staterooms look like luxury apartments. They can have an upstairs and a downstairs, a living room, dining room and even a kitchen area. They can also have Jacuzzis and more than one bathroom. Yet, to have access to them be prepared to pay a pretty penny. Luxury cruise ship staterooms can range from $500 to over $3,000 per person per day.
So, how do you decide which cruise ship stateroom is for you? Well, from my experience, you should try to at least get an outside cabin. Having a window in your room really adds to the cruising experience, because you can see the beauty of the ocean any time you want. To me that’s all that really matters… though if I had the money I definitely wouldn’t mind checking out luxury cruise ship staterooms. However, don’t break your budget if you lack the funds. Besides, do you go on a cruise to stay in your stateroom or to enjoy the cruise ship itself? If you’re like most it will be the latter, so what you’re staying in shouldn’t matter as much anyway.
